Zimbabwe, a destination for southern Africa is unclear. Indeed, only a few Europeans can locate it on a map and yet just a magic word can help them “Victoria Falls”, located on the Zambezi River, discovered by David Livingstone. Zimbabwe lies between the Limpopo River in the south and the Zambezi River to the north.

Matopos National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage site. Built thousands of years ago the Great Zimbabwe Ruins pay tribute to the Bantu civilization of the Shona between the 11th and 15th centuries. The ruins span an area of about 722 hectares and could have housed close to 18,000 people. The architecture of the ruins is truly magical and artistic, built with granite stones and patterns were built into the walls with the stones. Great Zimbabwe is just 30km from the town Masvingo.

Great Zimbabwe

Three rivers – Save, Runde & Mwenezi cut through this 5000 square km park and form a natural oasis for hundreds of species of birds and other wildlife. The name means “the wilderness of elephants”.

Gonarezhou National Park

Comprising the mountain ranges of Vumba, Chimanimani, and Nyanga, this is a trekker’s dream. The lush vegetation and botanical gardens make it a haven for the botanist in you.
